My life is falling apart because of the rumors girls spread.
The Bible has A LOT to say about rumors…which is basically gossip, and a person can even be put to trial for untrue rumors and charged with slander. Although you are probably not ready to go to court to charge these girls, it is still an unacceptable thing for them to do and hurtful to you. God was very clear on this point starting with the 10 Commandments. Exodus 20:16 says, “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor”. Rumors are definitely nothing new, and unfortunately have been around forever. So the question becomes what can you do about the situation you are in. First and foremost, it is important to make sure that you are without blame for the rumors. If the rumors are in fact true, then it is important to own the errors and work on repairing your reputation. If you said or did something to cause the others to do this, then the next step for you should be to apologize and admit your error. Having said that, no matter what rumors are still not OK. On the other hand, after searching your heart and finding pure thoughts and actions, the Bible is also clear on ways in which you can try to lovingly stop the spread of the rumors.
A Brother Who Sins Against You
15"If your brother sins against you,[a] go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. 16But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.'[b] 17If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
Basically, go and talk to the girl(s) themselves. If that doesn’t work then take a friend, and if that doesn’t work seek the guidance of a pastor, parent, etc. to follow this biblical example. You are valuable, and we love you! You are in our prayers!
